2001 Polaris Virage TXI Description
With its midnight-coloured cowling, the 2001 Virage TXi from Polaris makes an aggressive statement. It may look mean, but the ride is friendly.
Although the three-seater is based on last year’s Virage, a new design for 2000, it’s what’s inside that sets it apart. The TXi is toting FICHT direct fuel injection, but it’s not the same system you found in the Polaris PWC last season. The new year has brought the addition of a Ram-injection delivery system that helps reduce emissions even further, while improving fuel economy. With such a saving in fuel consumption, imagine how far the 64-litre capacity will take you.
Also new on the TXi are an updated injector design and a better throttle position sensor. The changes have created an injector that’s more durable
    than ever.
The 135-hp, three-cylinder engine is the same powerplant used in last year’s Genesis and Virage TX models, but TXi
differs in its power delivery. The fuel-injected craft has a linear power manifold for greater ability to handle the rigours of towing. A special tuned pipe pumps up the mid-range power, but with the Polaris Low Accoustic Noise Exhaust Technology (PLANET) system, you’ll never hear the difference.
Another nice touch is the Electric Reverse Control. It’s handy for picking up fallen skiers, or while docking. When on the go, though, it’s the 28-inch sponsons that make all the difference, plus the specially designed BAT ride plate. They help keep the Virage TXi on track, even with an adult being pulled behind. The full V-hull makes the ride soft and stable. Team it with the newly design-ed seat, and you have a PWC that treats your tush just right.
All this and a machine that guards itself using a programmable theft deterrent system. With all of its goodies and retro colour scheme, the Virage TXi is sure to remind you that you’re never too old to have some fun.
