2010 Kawasaki Ultra 260X Description

Pulling ideas and technology from a race heritage does not necessarily mean a PWC puts itself out of the realm of possibility for beginner riders. In fact, it can mean better handling and a smoother ride for any one who dares take on the challenge – regardless of experience. That is exactly the case with Kawasaki’s Ultra 260X.

Sure this flagship Jet Ski packs a whole lot of a punch with an inline, four-cylinder supercharged and inter-cooled engine with an output of 260 PS. At the same time, Kawasaki has built a machine that can be worked as easy or as hard as the rider’s ability (and comfort) dictates.

The Ultra 260X comes equipped with the company’s SLO (Smart Learning Operation) mode function, which allows less experienced riders to get out on the water and practise at less than full power. There are even two separate keys – one for SLO mode and one for full power.

Realizing water conditions are not always perfect, Kawasaki has designed the hull with an upward slant from the middle towards the bow. This not only allows it to cut the waves at high speeds, it also provides better stability at lower speeds. When paired with several other features – such as a deep-V hull, fourth splash deflector, ride plate groove and sponsons – the 260X offers up a dry, stable ride with excellent manoeuvrability.

But a PWC that’s fun to ride is nothing if it’s not fit to ride. With this in mind, the Ultra 260X has room for three on a narrow seat that is comfortable whether you’re operating it seated or standing up. Other thoughtful features include five-way adjustable handlebars, a deck design offering lots of legroom, a detachable drink holder for two bottles and a long, retractable rear boarding step.

At 78 litres, the fuel tank will allow for lots of cruising and the 228 litres of storage capacity will ensure you have everything packed on board that you need to stay on the water.

If you’re looking for a PWC that will be as fun to learn on as it will to test your limits with, the Kawasaki Ultra 260X is a great option.
