Since its inception in 2005, the VX series has been Yamahas most popular WaveRunners. A perfect entry-level craft, the VX always offers the right balance between great features and performance at a reasonable price.
2010 brings a rebirth to this fan favourite that is sure to be a hit with old and new fans alike. At first, the metallic bronze paint and impressive stature may lead you to believe youre looking at the FX cruiser, Yamahas flagship PWC. But the newly raised rear-view mirrors, expanded side decks and larger rear decks declare it as the new VX Cruiser.
The seat is longer for first-class legroom and the already comfortable seat is now even more so for your passengers. The ergonomics behind the new VX are very smart, and the distance between the reboarding ladder and the seat handle has been decreased to make reboarding a breeze.
There are changes below the waterline as well. The ride plate is brand new and the sponsons have been repositioned. That, along with the larger aft deck, creates a centre of gravity thats more towards the rear of the craft. This gives you a nose up ride that is sporty and nimble.
This was evident out on the water, where the handling was tight and sharp in turns. The power of the MR-1 four-stroke muscled the rear end of the VX around and allowed it to steer out strong. In time trials, the engine pushed the VX to its top speed of 50.5 mph more than enough to impress. The VX cruiser is also even more stable than ever, a quality that leads to its popularity. Now you can have the best of both worlds.
Im a firm believer in the if it aint broke, dont fix it philosophy. But with the smart, thoughtful changes Yamaha has made on this virtually new VX Cruiser, I have no doubt their most popular WaveRunner is going to be even more of a fan favourite for 2010.
