2007 Triton SF-188 Description
It has been said that you can't be everything

to everyone. Well, Triton is trying its very

best to do just that with the all-new SF-

    188. Combining the best of a tournament bass

boat with the look and appeal of a ski boat, this

is sure to be a family pleaser.

Equipped with the optional Sport Angler,

Trailer and Family packages, as our test boat

was, the Triton SF-188 definitely has loads to

    offer from stem to stern.

At the bow, the fishing influence is obvious.

There is a raised casting platform with foot

pedal and optional pedestal seat, as well as a

MotorGuide trolling motor with depth finder.

A large in-floor rod holder locker and port and

starboard in-floor storage areas, all with gas

struts and locks, offer lots of convenient hidden

storage space to keep the platform clear. A nonskid

bow step mat at the centre walk-through

offers safe access to the cockpit area.

The SF-188's captain is sure to enjoy long

days out on the water with the boat's comfortable

helm. There is great visibility through the

curved, fully-enclosed windshield and all gauges

(including the Lowrance X135 depth finder)

are nicely spread out and easy-to-read. The

deluxe swivel bucket seat foot wells and foot

rests are also sure to please.

To port, there is another comfortable swivel

bucket seat, with a convenient passenger grabrail

    - a touch that may come in handy when

racing from fishing hole to fishing hole.

In the cockpit area, a large glove box and

in-floor ski/wakeboard locker offer more spaces

to tuck away all the necessities for a day on the

water. Netting on the back of both bucket seats

offer a convenient place to store bits and bobs

    for the trip.

Other thoughtful touches on the SF-188

include lots of drink holders, a Sirius-ready JBL

audio system, wood accents and cockpit courtesy

lights. Additional fishing features include a

rear storage bait well, rear storage boxes, live

well capacity and rear aerated bait well.

    Although the luxurious carpeting throughout

seems durable, it may make clean up a bit of a

    chore.

Perhaps the most unique feature on this

Triton is the three-part transom seat. To port

    and starboard are raised-back "captain-style"

seats, with a bench-style centre section. The

middle portion works as a step, offering easy

access to the rear casting platform for fishing

purposes or convenient re-entry for watersports.

The middle seat also has an Igloo cooler hidden

    underneath.

With the boat fully examined, it was time

to take her out for a spin. Despite a bit of

chop, the SF-188 came out of the hole quickly.

It offered a stable, comfortable ride at cruise.

Turning was gradual with no slippage, giving a

sense of security with the boat firmly planted.

Coming upon a sheltered bay around the

corner from our test site, we managed to really

see the power of the OptiMax 150. It responded

immediately as we slammed the throttle full

down. Unfortunately, we did not have the

opportunity to try the trolling motor, but it is

definitely a great fishing option. When it comes

down to it, you really can't have a fish-and-ski

    boat without one.

With a roomy feel, lots of convenient

options and plenty of dry storage, the all-purpose

SF-188 is sure to be popular with everyone

in your family - no matter what their

    choice of water pleasure.
