2005 Princecraft Princecraft Vacanza 250V LPW Description
For the last four years I have had the pleasure of testing a number of different Princecraft boats at the company's annual new product press rollout. This year at beautiful Mont Tremblant, Que., I had the opportunity to test the Vacanza 250V LPW, powered by a MerCruiser 5.0 MPI sterndrive - with plenty of horsepower for a 25-foot deckboat.

I remember raving last year about the comfort of the seats and the fit and finish of the boat. This year is no different. Stepping on board, the first thing that grabs your attention is the boat's luxurious appointments, especially its lounges and captain's chairs.

The Vacanza 250 features a larger cockpit, with a full-width walkthrough windshield. The layout of the boat is comprised of two seating areas in the bow section of the boat — large enough to let you comfortably sit back against the rear cushion with your legs stretched out in front of you.

The main cockpit area is laid out to accommodate a number of people, with a long L-shaped couch and a bolstered captain's chair with sliding rails. There are large storage areas under all three lounges (two in the bow area and the L-shaped one aft) and two large storage areas in the floor, large enough to hold all the necessary lifejackets and water ski equipment.

At the rear of the boat, built into the L-shaped lounge behind the captain's chair, is a pop-up change room with chemical head.Within the floor storage area is a built-in cooler/fish box.The port console comes with an integrated entertainment centre, including sink, ice chest and storage underneath.

The instruments in the dash feature the Mercury SmartCraft System tachometer (11 different functions) and the Mercury SmartCraft System speedometer, also with 11 different digital functions, a voltmeter, trim and fuel gauges. The stereo system is a 200- watt Clarion marine AM/FM/CD player with four waterproof speakers. Aft, there is a large full-width integrated swim platform with a fresh water shower unit.

The Vacanza definitely has been designed to maximize your space in the cockpit and bow area, with far more storage and seating space than most 25-foot boats.

I am always amazed at the look of Princecraft boats like the Vacanza, with smooth lines and integral parts that are shaped from aluminum. You would swear, looking at the boat from the dock, it is fibreglass and not aluminum.

Yet its aluminum construction gives it plenty of durability along with that style. The Vacanza's low weight also helps it reach a top speed of 49.5 mph and accelerate from 0 to 20 mph in 8.1 seconds — quick for a boat of this size. The Vacanza would certainly have no problem getting a water-skier up.

Taking the boat out for a test run proved interesting, as the waves were beginning to build and in some parts of the lake small whitecaps were appearing. The boat cut effortlessly through the waves with very little pounding and turned with no slippage, attesting to its deep-V hull. Coming back to the dock after putting the boat through a barrage of turns at various speeds and other manoeuvres, I could honestly say the Vacanza certainly delivers the performance boaters need to enjoy every precious moment on their favourite lake.
