2005 Princecraft Princecraft Super Pro 220 Platinum Description

The Princecraft Super Pro 220 Platinum is not a new model for 2005, but the engine on the test boat's transom the new four-stroke Mercury Verado 225 outboard with SmartCraft digital controls - pushed it to the top of my test priority list.
The SmartCraft system, only available with Mercury products, gives your boat drive-by-wire throttle and shifting. The system also monitors internal and external sensors to provide up-to-the-second information at a glance.
On the lake, the first thing I notice is the quiet operation of the motor as the boat idles along at a slow speed while I play with a number of the different modes on the SmartCraft system; it takes me through a number of the monitoring indicators for the engine.
As we clear the harbour I push the throttle forward to the full position. Not only did the boat accelerate quickly but the throttle controls were extremely smooth.
Reaching top speed of 53.8 mph at 6,200 rpm, the Super Pro 220 cuts through the water effortlessly. Putting the engine through a number of different scenarios speeding up quickly then pulling back to a cruising speed and accelerating again at different rates the Verado responds instantly to every command with no hesitation. Though the top speed is more than adequate, the thrust that the Verado 225 delivers at mid-range rpm is impressive, to say the least.
The Princecraft Super Pro 220 is up on plane quickly and travels from 0 to 20 mph in an impressive 4.8 seconds; not bad for a beefy 22-foot fishing boat.
The Super Pro 220 Platinum is laid out similar to most fishing boats, with a raised casting platform in the bow area and four removable swivel seats in the cockpit. In the raised bow casting platform, there is an anchor storage area, a deep-cycle battery storage compartment for the trolling motor, ice chest, livewell, and lots of other storage compartments.The dual livewell in the bow has a removable minnow bucket and a timed-aeration system with remote-control through-hull drain.
Aft, in front of the engine there is another large livewell with a removable minnow bucket. Below the rear livewell, the Super Pro has a built-in tackle box.
To help anglers catch the big one, Princecraft includes all the necessary options such as the Lowrance X-15 fish/depth finder, a 24-volt deluxe bow trolling motor with Marinco plug and receptacle, voltmeter, tilt switch and wiring harness. To protect your rods against theft, the boat has a sevenfoot lockable rod storage compartment.
The console includes a curved walk-through glass windshield to protect you against the elements. The moulded dash, with a wood-grain plastic insert for the instruments, is not only durable but quite attractive, like the rest of the boat.
Throughout the cockpit there are a number of grabhandles, along with stainless-steel grabrails in the bow area and four cupholders for boaters' safety and convenience. Except for a trolling motor, I can't think of anything else enthusiastic fishing fanatics would need to enjoy themselves on the water. And for those days when anglers want to take family or friends for a cruise, the Super Pro 22 comes with jump seats with removable cushions for the bow area.
