2004 Tahoe Tahoe Q7s Description

Tracker Marine describes its Tahoe line as "family sport boats." After driving the Tahoe Q7s,we have to agree.
With an overall length of 21 feet on a generous 8'6" beam, the Tahoe is a very spacious family bowrider. Fitted with a 5.0 L MerCruiser MPI sterndrive, the test boat delivers the goods.
For 2004, the Q7s is the biggest runabout Tahoe offers. This is a package boat - appealing for many buyers - and its $35,000 price includes both a Bimini top and trailer. Even those who don't often trailer their boats will find the trailer useful for winter storage.
V-bottom family boats of this type have taken some very positive directions over the last few years. Recognizing that swimming or water-skiing from the boat is very popular,many manufacturers have moulded a swim platform into the stern. The Tahoe has this feature and it includes a retractable boarding ladder with grab-handle. A towing eye completes the package.
For 2004 the Q7s features a walkthrough from the swim platform into the cockpit.The aft bench seat is a good place to store larger items and there's additional storage in the engine compartment under the sunlounge.
The cockpit of our test boat was handsomely appointed with swivel bucket seats at the helm and companion positions, generous storage in the side pockets and a storage area under the floor big enough to hold a kneeboard.
We like the full fibreglass inner liner and snap-out carpeting that make cleaning and maintenance much easier. Other interior features include a four-speaker AMFM CD system, a companion side console with both glove box and a drained cooler. At the helm, full instrumentation, tilt steering, depthsounder and attractively laid-out switches make the boat a pleasure to drive.
So, what kind of performance should a "family sport boat" have? Our test boat was equipped with the 260 hp MerCruiser 5.0 V-8. Coming out of the hole, the Q7s got its bow up fairly high and it took 4.6 seconds to reach 20 mph. In less than nine seconds we were traveling over 40 mph and the boat settled down to a relaxed cruise at 3,500 rpm at 41 mph.
Test day brought high winds and a big nasty chop out on Lake Ontario.We found that the Tahoe really flies off the waves, maintaining its composure and delivering a very impressive ride considering the conditions. Especially traveling downwind and trimmed up, the boat turned in a very impressive performance. High-speed handling seems surefooted and with such an impressive turn of speed we would have to agree with Tahoe, that this is indeed a family sport boat with the emphasis on sport.
