V-hulled boats offer great performance and are a lot of fun to drive. The 2009 Manitou 22 Encore SHP pontoon certainly fits into that category. Thats right you read correctly, a V-hulled pontoon boat.
On the tri-toon 22 Encore SHP, the centre log is five-and-a-quarter inches lower than the outside two. This results in a V-type hull that offers incredible handling and performance compared to your standard pontoon cruiser. Adding the outside chines to a centre toon that is also four inches wider, you have a pontoon that carves and is responsive with zero roll.
Unlike your typical go-slow pontoon, the Encore 22 was ready for fun and the 250-hp Evinrude E-TEC HO on the back of it was a clear reminder. On the water the Performance numbers were not what you would expect from a pontoon boat. It jumped out of the water and to 20 mph in 4.6 seconds, cruised very comfortably at 22 mph (3500 rpm) and sped along nicely at 34.7 mph (4500 rpm). Putting the throttles down, we reached an impressive top speed of 53.8 mph (6000 rpm).
The interior was just as impressive, as the spacious seating had room for 11. The softtouch vinyl surrounds you with comfort and there is plenty of protection from the sun with the eight-and-a-half foot top. With plenty of storage, a removable table and four speaker stereo, Manitou does well in keeping the interior user-friendly without clutter.
Pontoon boats have gained a bit of a reputation with some boaters as moving docks or slow cruisers. Manitou has done its best to blur the lines between performance and comfort to make for a boat thats perfect for the cottage or your waterfront home.
