Are you in the market for a peppy multi-species fishing boat loaded with features that will ensure a comfortable day out on the water? The Princecraft Pro 185 GL may just be your answer.
The extra deep GL makes the step off the dock a big one, but gives the cockpit area a roomy feel for its size and also offers a great deal of functional storage space. Both gunwales feature rod holders, with two more holders at the stern, where there is an insulated fish box with a ruler integrated into its lid.
At the stern, you will also find a battery storage compartment and multi-purpose storage compartment. A lot more storage is available at the raised bow casting platform, along with a 20-gallon electric-fill, aerated live well with removable minnow bucket.
The twin console design on the 185 GL offers great protection behind a high wraparound walk-through tinted curved glass windshield. The deluxe pedestal folding seats (with no-pinch hinge) can also be moved to either the two floor seat positions found at the stern or the one on the bow casting platform.
At the helm, the SmartCraft gauges are mounted for good visibility. Equipped with a Mercury Verado, the test boat came with the digital throttle and shift system (DTS) and also featured the optional 9.9Mercury kicker with remote control and connecting rod.
Once out on the water, the double reverse chine hull provided a smooth cruise with the boat nice and high in the water, which will also help improve fuel-efficiency due to less hull resistance. The Pro 185 GL held well during tight turns, accelerated responsively through all ranges and cut the wakes from other boats with ease. The test boat was quick on plane at 2.62 seconds, but the bow stayed quite high, impeding visibility this may be improved with gear adding more weight in the bow.
All in all, the Princecraft Pro 185 GL is a great fishing boat for two, loaded with features and a fit and finish that will make any angler proud to call it their own.
