2009 Starcraft Limited 1700 Sport Description

In keeping with life these days, it’s really no surprise consumers want their family runabout to be a multi-tasker – a peppy fun machine ready for watersports that also offers a host of standard features for a comfortable ride. Well, the Starcraft Limited 1700 Sport I/O will easily – and affordably – pull double duty.

From the full-width swim platform to the spacious bow for its size, the 1700 appears ready to take the water by storm. Once at the helm, the boat proves it is both willing and able. With threeadults on board, the 1700 test boat planed in a quick 3.4 seconds at 19 mph (just shy of 3000rpm). The 16 foot, 10 inch bowrider jumps out of the hole to 20 mph in a respectable 6.2 seconds, reaching 30 mph from idle in 8.95 seconds.

During manoeuvres, the 1700 Sport I/O responded well to all adjustments in trim and wheel, although it tended to grab a bit during extremely tight turns. All the while, the ride was quiet and smooth.

The driver might be having too much fun to notice, but the plush bolstered, swivel bucket helm seat is comfortable and offers great visibility through the full curved windshield with walkthru. Easily accessible, the full host of instrumentation is also in clear view. To port, the companion bucket seat swivels as well – perfect for a spotter on all those trips around the lake towing the watersports nuts in your family.

Other features for those very same nuts are the fullwidth swim platform and the drained stern trunk, which will be a great spot for the wet ski tow rope when the fun is done. More storage for gear is available under the bow cushions and in the vented in-floor ski locker.

The large sun pad, which provides easy access to the engine, is perfect for sunbathing. A full-width aft bench and traditional bow seating provide ample space to bring friends along for the ride.

The Starcraft Limited 1700 Sport I/O is ready for both action and relaxation.
