2008 Princecraft Vision 23 L Description
A decade ago, the pontoon boat was an on-the-water extension of the dock – bare bones with a couple of benches for people to sit. It was cumbersome and slow. Nowadays, the pontoon is akin to a cottage on the water, loaded with amenities, space, storage and comfort.
Princecraft has taken the pontoon the next step with their entry-level Vision 23 L, which offers all the room and features of a pontoon boat matched with the performance of a runabout thanks largely to the addition of a third log.
Out on the water the 23 L gets up and goes as fast as any runabout, popping out of the hole to 20 mph in just over four seconds. With a top speed of nearly 40 mph, gone are the days of chugging along the waterways –
that is, of course, unless you choose to. The Vision handles really nicely, responding well through turns and various manoeuvres. The two-stroke Mercury OptiMax 150 absolutely purred, registering a mere 78 dbA at the helm at cruise and a respectable 84 dbA at top speed.
The 23 L will be a great addition to the cottage fleet on Canada’s many small lakes. It offers tons of deck space to walk around while anchored, as well as plenty of seating for when you’re underway. There are port and starboard chaise lounge seats up front with storage underneath, as well as an L-shaped lounge that stretches from amidships to the transom. All on-board furniture features plush, heavyweight upholstery.
For days spent whiling your time away, a full-width swim platform and padded rear sundeck (both standard features) will definitely come in handy. An optional pop-up change area, like that on our test boat, offers privacy
for swimmers and watersports buffs. Those hoping to trailer the Vision 23 L will appreciate the standard quick-release Bimini top latches and travelling struts which allows it to lay flat.
The helm – which comes equipped with trim gauge, tachometer, speedometer, voltmeter and fuel gauge – sports a moisture-resistant
roto-cast plastic console with sport steering wheel and glove box. A Sirius Satellite Ready AM/FM/CD stereo with iPod controls and four speakers makes sure the tunes are pumping. As part of the optional triple pontoon performance package, you also get Sea Star hydraulic steering with tilt wheel and lifting strakes.
If you’re looking for a versatile addition to your cottage fleet, a boat that can accommodate a crowd, offers space for entertaining, tows skiers and take you from Point A to Point B in good time, the Princecraft Vision 23 L is just the pontoon for you.
