2008 Sea Ray 210 Select Description
Easy recognition has always been one of Sea Ray’s unique features – at least for boats within the same design category. For the 2008 model year that’s still true, not just within the runabout line, but up into express cruisers.
For instance, the Sea Ray 210 Select is easily recognized as a sibling of the company’s small to mid-size express cruisers. The “design signature” is a radically sweeping sheer line seen as the hull-deck joint rises from the front of the swim platform to a zenith at the windshield, then drops towards the bow.  It’s especially apparent in boats like the 210 test boat, with contrasting
    topsides.
It’s a sporty design that gives the boats a chic, modern appearance. On the 210 Select, with its black topsides, white deck, curving three-piece windscreen and wide swim platform, it’s very effective.
A boat has to do more than look great, however – especially big bowriders. These days, an 18- to 25-foot bowrider has to be able to tow,
tour and keep everyone happy for the better part of a day on the water.
The 210 Select is available with an optional wakeboard/watersports tower. Add speed control, ballast tanks and a killer sound system and you’ve got a great runabout that works well as a tow boat.
The 210 Select test boat, on the other hand, will serve best as an all-round touring, sometimes- towing, cottage and day boat. At 21 feet long, it will happily and handily navigate big inland or coastal waters. There’s not much the boat’s fairly deep modified-V hull can’t handle.
The standard 5.0 L MPI MerCruiser engine, a 260-hp fuel-injected V8 powerplant is tied to an optional Bravo Three drive with twin counter-rotating props. The Bravo Three’s props help push the boat (over 4,000 pounds loaded) on plane easily, while contributing to confident cornering and high- and low-speed handling. Top speed is 50 mph and cruising speeds range
from 25 to 35 mph. Need to get home fast? Rev up to 4000 rpm for an easy 38.4 mph.
As with any bowrider, layout is pretty obvious. The 210 Select test boat, though, adds an optional yet highly recommended twist. The seemingly innocuous rear bench transforms into a kind of back-seat superhero. Lift up the starboard section of the seat back and bottom, then drop a stainless-steel bracket in place to form a double-wide aft-facing chaise-style lounge. The
port-side walkway aft to the wide swim platform remains usable.
Onlookers will still recognize the boat as a Sea Ray, but those onboard will be too relaxed to care.
