2008 Bayliner 205 BR Description
Who knows better what sells a boat than boaters themselves? That’s the philosophy Bayliner employed to design the new 205 BR.
The company went to the street, so to speak, to find out exactly what boat buyers were looking for. The public said they wanted good performance, flexibility and lots of storage. So Bayliner delivered these in spades.
There is so much storage on the 205 the company puts a detailed diagram in the locker. There’s a space for all the on-the-water fun you’re going to be having with this boat – whether its watersports, fishing or family fun. There are port and starboard storage consoles and a port console lockable glove box. You’ll find storage in the aft gunnel, under the bow seats and in the bow seat backs. The Sport Seating package on our test boat features a second
    in-floor ski locker.
The boat can be easily accessed through either the bow or stern. The Sport Seating configuration includes a huge aft sun lounge with a removable starboard cushion that hides the walkthrough. Bayliner also offers this model
with Family Seating so buyers can customize the layout.
The innovative touches on this boat are at once noticeable with the 22-inch integrated swim platform sporting beverage holders and seating. Boarding aft, you step into the spacious cockpit. Bayliner designed the 205 BR with a
forward beam – the widest point of its beam is pushed toward the bow. This allows the 205 to comfortably accommodate up to 10 people.
In the test boat, there is plenty of seating in the cockpit with an L-shaped lounge, and bolster bucket seats for both captain and co-captain. The non-skid floor ensures you’ll be spending time enjoying the water rather than
    cleaning.
The ergonomic dash looks like it belongs on the road instead of on the water. It includes non-glare instrumentation, side-mounted engine controls, and inset switches and gauges. Make sure you take the time to crank the tunes with the waterproof, satellite-ready AM/FM Stereo/Controller with inputs for iPod, MP3 and CD player.
The Bayliner 205 BR did not disappoint when we hit the waves either. It rode confidently and smoothly, turning with no bow drop thanks to the beam forward design. It jumped out of the hole to 20 mph in just over five seconds, and accelerated nicely through the mid-range. It cruised easily at waterskiing and wakeboarding speeds, but with a top speed of 46.4 mph at 4400 rpm the 205 BR also proves it has some gusto.
Designed for boaters by boaters, the Bayliner 205 BR takes a traditional 20-foot bowrider and lets the buyer make their mark.
