2002 Yamaha Pwc XLT 1200 Description

Performance, handling and comfort are words usually
associated with a personal watercraft. But this year Yamaha took a good
thing and decided to make it better.
Similar to last years XL1200, the new XLT has a triple-cylinder engine. This 1,176-cc engine pumps out 155 hp the highest in the three-person category. The top deck is the same as last years but those are about the only similarities to this new model.
The front storage hatch and cowl are sporting a new sleeker design along with a newly contoured seat for more comfort and curb appeal. On the underside, there have been some improvements such as reshaped chines which improve stability and straight-line tracking.
The new ride plate has been lengthened and incorporates the new chine profile. All of these new features are said to bring this three-passenger craft up on plane faster and give a better feel of handling and manoeuvrability in the mid-range speeds, where most riding is done.
Fortunately, the hulls running surface improvements do not take away from this bold performers speed. In addition, gas struts hold open the new hood and a spring holds the glove box door open, allowing for easier access to stored gear.
With all these performance features, Yamaha has not forgotten about the environment. Yamahas unique water-cooled platinum exhaust catalyst is said to cut hydrocarbon emissions by 60 percent.
In addition to reducing emissions, there are resonators that suppress the sound to a more acceptable, quieter level. Exclusive to Yamaha on this model is a five-position tilt handlebar that allows the driver to put the handlebars in the most comfortable position. This makes long-distance riding more enjoyable for either a short or tall rider.
Another useful feature is the adjustable trim that allows the operator to set the ride position according to conditions, load or water-skiing. So if you are looking for performance, handling and comfort, the XLT ranks in the lineup this season.
